What are the MainWP Add-ons

MainWP Add-ons are composed of PHP scripts that extend the functionality of your MainWP Dashboard. They offer new additions to your Dashboard that either enhance features that were already available or add new features to your Dashboard. MainWP offers a variety of Free and Premium Add-ons in multiple categories, which can be acquired by signing up for one of MainWP Pro Plans. After signing up for a MainWP Pro Plan, you will be provided with the Main API Key for Add-ons Activation and a Download Link for your purchased product(s). Even though all MainWP Add-ons are fully functional without API Activation, support and automated updates are available only for activated Add-ons. If you want to develop your Add-ons, there is a comprehensive list of resources at MainWP Codex. Please note: MainWP Add-ons are distinct from the MainWP plugins. The Add-ons are delivered through our Add-on system, while the plugins are delivered through wordpress.org repository. The free plugins include: MainWP Child, MainWP Dashboard, MainWP Child Reports, and MainWP Key Maker.

Log in or register for a MainWP Account

If you already have a MainWP Account, use the Login Form (on the left side) to log into your account. If you are visiting the MainWP Website for the first time, use the Register form (on the right side) to create your MainWP Account.

Choose your preferred plan and click the Sign-Up! button

Automatic Add-on(s) Installation

Login into your MainWP Dashboard site

Go to the MainWP > Add-ons page

On the top of the page, you will find the Install and Activate Add-ons box

Enter your Main API Key and check Remember MainWP Main

Go to the WP > Plugins > Add New page on your Dashboard site

Find the previously downloaded Add-on(s) and click the Install Now button.

Manual Add-on(s) Installation

Download your MainWP Add-on(s) to your desktop.

If downloaded as a zip archive, extract the Add-on folder to your desktop.

With your FTP program, upload the Add-on folder to the wp-content/plugins folder in your WordPress (Dashboard site) directory online.

Go to WP > Plugins screen and find the newly uploaded Add-on on the list.

Click Activate to activate it.

MainWP Add-ons should be installed only on your Dashboard site. Add-ons should never be installed on a Child Site!

Once the Add-on is installed, Activate it with an API key to receive automatic updates. To receive Automatic Add-on updates, your Add-ons need to be activated with a working Main API Key after successful installation.

Add-ons are fully functional without the API Activation. By activating Add-on(s), you will enable the Automatic Update mechanism. If you experience any issues with activating your Add-on(s), do not hesitate to submit a support ticket.

Manual Add-on(s) Update

Reinstallation of a MainWP Add-on(s) does not remove any data from a database. This means that if you reinstall your Add-on to update it, Add-on settings won’t be lost.

Download the latest version of the Add-on(s) you wish to update

Login into your MainWP Dashboard site

Go to the WP > Plugins page

Find the Add-on you want to update

Deactivate it

Delete it

Install the new version

It is crucial to update MainWP Add-ons as soon as an update is available. Using out of date Add-ons can cause a variety of issues, the two biggest ones being Security and Compatibility.

Remove Unneeded Add-ons

Since MainWP Dashboard version 4.3, MainWP Add-ons can be removed directly from the MainWP Dashboard.

Navigate to MainWP Dashboard > Add-ons page

Find the Add-on you wish to remove

Click the Disable button

After the page refreshes, click the Delete button

Add-ons can also be removed like any other WordPress plugin. To remove Add-ons in that manner:

All MainWP Add-ons will completely uninstall themselves, so there is no need to access your server via FTP to manually delete Add-on files.
